Service Project for Cooks Children's Hospital

15 members of the Bluebonnet Chapter painted ceiling tiles for Cooks Children's Hospital in Ft. Worth.  The 24" x 24" tiles will be placed two to a room in the radiation area.  The idea is that frightened children may look up at the ceiling and see something fun to distract them from the procedure.  Participants were Vera Hudnall, Pat Hooper, Connie Bartch, Joyce Beall, Karen Yates, Diana Pfau, June Weddle, Shirley Wiesmen, Marc Wrisley, Pat Holder, Sherida D'Ambra, Margaret Schroeder, Linda McDonald, Nancy Genetti and Diane Goodwin.  We all had a fun time and felt good for participating in such a worth while project.

The ceiling tiles which we painted were well received by Cooks Children's Hospital - so much so that they wanted more tiles painted.  10 members met at Unique Woods and painted 24 more tiles.  The members who painted the second time were Nancy Genetti, Linda McDonald, Pat Hooper, Margaret Schroeder, June Weddle, Karen Yates, Mary Jo Jung, Vera Hudnall, Mary Helen Horne, and Diane Goodwin.  We all had a great time.

Here is what we painted:

In November some of the members visited Cook's Childrens hospital to view the tiles in place.  It was very inspiring how much good our tiles are doing.

Meals on Wheels

At the July Meeting the chapter usually paints favors to be put on trays for the Meals on Wheels.  This year the chapter is painting small baskets with Snowmen on them.

Sandra teaching at the July meeting:

Each year Bluebonnet participates in the Meals on Wheels Auction.

Members donate painted items to their auction with proceeds going to Meals on Wheels.  This organization serves those who need help, providing a hot mean and monitoring the well-being of each client each day.

Memory Boxes

The chapter continues to paint memory boxes for local hospitals.  Click here for more information of memory boxes.
