Sharron worked hard to earn her TDA. She taught the required number of classes, passed tests and produced a video of her teaching. Congratulations Sharron!

In September of 2005 members of the Society were given the opportunity to paint ornaments for the Library of Congress in Washington DC. This was not an official Society function, but organized by Deb Malewski. Artists that painted ornaments were invited to a reception in early December. The project was called "Creativity Across America", here were book-shaped ornaments from each state. The background colors were specified and the ornament was to tell a story about your state. Connie Bartch sent an ornament to represent her home state:
Nancy Genetti send in an ornament.
If anyone sent an ornament to the Library of Congress please send a picture to be posted here. For more cruise pictures go to Cruise Page
The Elation Muster Practice
The Board hangs the Art Show at the Bob Duncan Community Center before the regular board meeting. The show will hang until the general meeting on July 14. The chapter has this show each year at the Center which always proves to be one of the most popular they have.
Everyone had a wonderful time at the party which was hosted by Diana Pfau and her committee at the White Room in Arlington. Upon arriving at the party, each person was presented with an apron, with bluebonnets painted on it, and a permanent pen and was told to get as many signatures as possible on it. What a great way to talk to everyone and meet those that were new. A great buffet was served, along with a "birthday cake" for the chapter. Many of Bluebonnet's past presidents were present as well as many members who had served at the National level. Several of the early members imparted some of the chapter's history.
Many of Bluebonnet Chapter members attended a seminar sponsored by the Ft. Worth Chapter with Gretchen Cagle in June.

Installing the Officers 2005 Board of Directors SDP Paints 2004 White House Christmas Ornaments
The Society of Decorative Painters was asked by
Laura Bush to paint ornaments for the official White House Tree. The Theme
was "a Season of Merriment and Melody" and we were asked to paint various
musical instruments in bright colors with gold strokework or Rosemaling on
them. There were over 350 ornaments on the tree and at least one from every
state. The Artists that painted ornaments and the Board of Directors were
invited to a reception at the White House on Dec 1, 2004. The decorations and
food was spectacular. Each person that was invited was given the opportunity
to have a picture taken with Laura Bush, along with their invited guest.
Armida Guzman, a Ft. Worth Decorative Painters member painted an ornament and
took Betty Kenaston, also of Ft. Worth, as her guest. Nancy Genetti, an SDP
Board Member took Linda McDonald as her guest. It is almost indescribable the
feeling you get as you walk thru the halls and into the area where the
reception was held, it was such an honor to be there.
