Our last FUNdRaiser for 2019 will be held on August 22nd. Please take a look at the Schedule page and Newsletter for details on the project. Diana Pfau will be the instructor. The FUNdRaiser for September has been cancelled. The two FUNdRaisers that have been cancelled for 2019 will be reincorporated into the 2020 lineup - so you still have chance to take those terrific seminars. Several folks brought in entry items for the State Fair and those are being submitted on Sunday. Good luck to all who entered something!

Bluebonnet members - don't forget we have a Paint In tomorrow. This is a great time to bring along your unfinished projects and spend time with other painters. In addition, the chapter always has some ongoing projects for which we need assistance.
If you have State Fair items you wish Barb to take up for submission, please be sure to drop them off at the close of the Board Meeting. Be sure you bring along your paid registration as well as your pieces.
Please see the Schedule page for information on times and the location. Members are welcome to attend the Board Meeting if they choose. Typically the Paint Ins begin right after the Board Meeting lunch break.
Well, if you missed the Sandy McTier seminar at the end of July, you really missed a fantastic event! Two days of working with the new DecoArt Stylin Paints and DecoArt Media products! Sandy was a fabulous teacher and everyone was able to complete several project items. Some of us immediately purchased a bunch of the Stylin Paints (great pricing through Blick's Art Supplies ( https://www.dickblick.com ). I went home and purchased a stash of the Media products - especially the awesome Gesso used in class!
The next newsletter will have a bunch of photos of the seminar. Below are three of the items I finished. The class was well paced, fun, and informative. Mixed media can be a stretch for those who haven't tried it before. But Sandy made it easy and fun! If you have a chance to catch her at another location, I urge you to make it a "must do" on your art journey!

As a Bluebonnet Chapter member, your presence at meetings is very important. We discuss upcoming events (such as the wonderful Sandy McTier seminar coming in late July), as well as various service opportunities. This is your chance to bring up topics of interest and to share your experiences at various seminars and workshops.
If you are not a member, you are very welcome to join us for one meeting without joining the chapter. This is a great opportunity to meet people and get a feel for what we do, what's coming up, etc.
This is a fun group and we always have a great time in the workshops and painting opportunities. We do hope you will mark your calendar and join us!
The Texas State Fair offers Bluebonnet members an opportunity to show their creative talents to a HUGE audience! Each year, our fearless Barbara Gerlach helps coordinate this effort for Bluebonnet members.
This year's State Fair theme is "Celebrating Texas Creativity". There is a fee for entries ($2.00 for Seniors; $5.00 for those age 18-69). Your fee must be submitted along with your entry form. Please contact Barbara Gerlach with questions.
You can check out the Fair website at ( https://bigtex.com/get-involved/creative-arts-competitions/ ) for all details about the competition, along with entry forms and the full handbook.
Entries are due no later than July 19th if you want Barbara to deliver them to the fair for judging. You can bring them to the July General Meeting (July 11th) or contact Barbara directly to discuss how to get them to her. Delivery to the Fair is from Friday, August 9th through Sunday, August 11th, from 9 am to 5 pm.
Judging occurs August 11th. You will be notified of results no later than August 31st.
Items not selected must be picked up September 4th, 5th, or 6th. Items included in the Fair must be picked up on October 23rd, 24th, or 25th.
The Fair runs from September 27th to October 20th this year.
Sorry but we had to cancel June's FUNdraiser! Several folks had unexpected emergencies and we require a minimum number of attendees for these to "make".
If you previously signed up, you should have received an email from Diana Pfau (Ways and Means).
Looking ahead, we hope that you will sign up early for these as having a solid number of attendees is so important.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the next General Meeting in July (see Schedule for times/place/etc.). Please consider inviting a friend!
If you haven't yet signed up for the JULY SEMINAR WITH SANDY McTEIR please be sure you do that as soon as possible! You do not have to be a member of Bluebonnet to sign up for the seminar, but you must be a member of the Society of Decorative Painters. This is going to be a terrific event and loads of fun!
In Texas that means storms, heat, and vacations! Hopefully everyone is getting through all of these with the least amount of unexpected issues!
We have a terrific FUNDraiser coming up this week. In July, before the General Meeting, we have a lovely workshop on roses planned. Check these out under the "Schedule" link. While there, click on the Seminar/Retreat link and read about the upcoming seminar in July! It is going to be so much fun! If you haven't signed up, snag your seat soon as we expect this to be a heavily attended seminar!
Keep an eye out for the latest newsletter which will be posted on this site as soon as available. We have a number of wonderful volunteer opportunities so get those paintbrushes washed and ready to help with our Meals on Wheels painting project. Seems a long way off right now - but the Christmas Party will be here before we know it and ornaments are available for purchase at the General Meeting. There are going to be some FABULOUS raffle items at the Party - and a VERY competitive "dazzling shirt" competition. Please join us at the next General Meeting to get all the latest information and to get signed up for all the fun activities still ahead this year!
On a sadder note, earlier this month we received the news that a former member, Joann Nichols, had passed away the day after Memorial Day 2019. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends.
May is almost over - and the last SDP Convention has come and gone. If you were fortunate enough to attend, please share your most memorable moments on our Facebook page. While everyone is sad to see the end of this wonderful event, we know that more good memory-making adventures lie ahead.
June is a busy month here at the Bluebonnet Chapter.
Plans are already in motion for the Christmas Party. Stay tuned to the Newsletter (and come to meetings!) for the latest updates. We have a fun contest planned and it is not too early to get started on your entry!

We had our chapter Board Meeting yesterday. Lots of fun things coming up fast! Of course the national Society of Decorative Painters Conference is coming up in May. Backpacks were gathered at our Board Meeting and will be taken to the Conference by Diana Pfau.
Planning for the chapter's Christmas Party is already underway. Details will be posted under the "Members Only" tab above as they become available. We are planning a "Get Your Sparkle On" shirt competition and more information will be provided at our next meeting.
We have some really fun workshops and FUNdraisers coming up - and of course are very thrilled about the upcoming Seminar. See the Schedule tab above for more information. Be there or be square!
By the way - in case you didn't know - FUNdraisers are open to non-chapter folks. If you have friends interested in painting, these are a great way to not only enjoy a concentrated painting time but also to get to know our chapter. Seminars are open to non-chapter members BUT all attendees must be members of the Society of Decorative Painters.
